A South Carolina state trooper was hit by a vehicle after a crash in Lexington County Tuesday morning. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the incident happened in the area of Augusta Road, and the trooper was airlifted to a hospital.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department later said the trooper was on a stop when a deputy from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department slowed down to check on the trooper. According to the RCSD, a red truck in the same lane as the deputy failed to stop in time, colliding with the LCSD vehicle which caused the trooper outside of their vehicle to be hit.
RCSD is investigating the incident due to SCHP and LCSD being involved. This is the third time within a month that a SC State Trooper has been hit in a Midlands crash. There's no word yet on the troope
