North Melbourne Football Club was founded in 1869.
Originally it was named Hotham and was part of the VFA before eventually switching to the VFL in 1925.
The 1925 debut season was exciting despite the club finishing 10th out of 12 teams with five wins and 12 losses.
They beat eventual premiers Geelong in round one and finalists Melbourne during the season.
Many at the club would have hoped a premiership would be just around the corner, likewise the passionate Shinboner supporters.
But in 1926 the club’s promising form of a year earlier deteriorated, and it would be a long 50 years until a breakthrough flag in 1975.
