FARGO — President Donald Trump's use of tariffs has created uncertainty and chaos for many American businesses, including some close to home.
That was the general sentiment expressed Tuesday, Sept. 9, during a Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Pulse event held on the Microsoft campus in south Fargo.
Tariffs imposed by the Trump administration have resulted in what is essentially the largest tax increase on U.S. businesses and consumers in half a century, said John Kirchner, vice president of the Midwest Region of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the keynote speaker at Tuesday's event.
"Basically, we have a tariff on everybody," said Kirchner, who asserted the U.S. needs to revitalize its trade practices because American politicians from both parties have failed for years
