Members of a state House committee criticized the job performance of the director of Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services during a hearing Tuesday with one member telling her she wouldn't have her job if she was in the private sector.
At one point during questioning in Lansing, State Rep. Jay DeBoyer, R-Clay Township, chair of the state House Oversight committee, used a metaphor to describe the MDHHS and Director Elizabeth Hertel, with the department being like a business and Hertel being its CEO.
