NEW WINDSOR – Town Police in New Windsor have arrested five people in connection with a fight and theft of a 17-year-old’s backpack.
Police Chief Daniel Valeri said the incident occurred just before 3 p.m. on Monday, September 8 on Old Forge Hill Road near Provost Drive.
The victim told police he had been assaulted by a group of men who stole his backpack and fled in a car.
A description of the vehicle and license plate were obtained and broadcast to police and the car was stopped on Route 94 near Shore Drive in the Town of Cornwall by town police.
New Windsor Police recovered the backpack after it was tossed from the fleeing car.
Arrested were Jahreek Griffin, 21, Willie Cousar, 19, and Terence Walker, 18, and a 17-year-old, young man, all from Newburgh, and a 17-year-old New Windsor
