CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wednesday marks the historical peak of hurricane season in the Atlantic basin.

The busiest seven weeks is the period between Aug. 20 and Oct. 10. And abnormally, there’s nothing to track currently.

Although the Atlantic is calm right now, it’s important to always stay weather aware.

That’s why Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Hurricane Center Robbie Berg wants to remind everyone the season comes in waves and lulls.

“You need to be on guard for what potential impacts might be coming down the road, and that requires almost doing a daily update of what's happening in the tropics and looking at your weather forecast,” Berg said.
