NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) — The American Red Cross of Louisiana is urging residents to prepare their households for both extreme weather and sudden emergencies like home fires during National Preparedness Month. As the climatological peak of hurricane season approaches, the organization is stressing the importance of being ready.
"National Preparedness Month is a great time to ask whether your family would be ready if something unexpected happened tomorrow," said Ed Bush, regional disaster officer for the American Red Cross of Louisiana. "It’s not about being scared; it’s about being smart and looking out for the people you love. Taking a few simple steps now so that you have a plan can make all the difference when it matters most."
