ANN ARBOR, MI – A lawsuit from several local families that aimed to put the kibosh on ongoing construction around two northern Ann Arbor school rebuilds has been tossed out of Washtenaw County Circuit Court.
The complaint, filed in early June on behalf of six adults and 11 children, alleged Ann Arbor Public Schools didn’t gather enough input from residents before moving forward with plans to build new structures for Thurston and Logan elementaries.
AAPS had largely settled key site details like location and construction timing, parents claimed, when plans were at last unveiled in late 2024. That process, they said, violated the state’s Revised School Code, amounted to an illegal use of taxpayers funds under 2019’s $1 billion school capital bond, and damaged children’s learning environm
