BURDETT, N.Y. (WETM) -- Harvest season is approaching for winemakers to collect grapes, and a couple of winemakers around the Finger Lakes say they anticipate a good harvest.
The summer of 2024 heat periods contributed to crop production, compared to the late frost in May of 2023. Vineyard Manager at Lakewood Vineyards, David Stamp, told 18 News on Tuesday, Sept. 9, the weather patterns in 2025 have been favorable to help ripen the grapes. According to Stamp, April was seen as dry and from June through July, warm weather aided growth for the crops.
“Kind of the biggest change we have from last year to this year is more Southern Finger Lakes, we dealt with a lot of rain in May," Stamp said. "Right here, we were over 15 inches of rain in May, which is almost a half of our yearly precipitat
