ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A Roanoke woman has been arrested for homicide in the death of her two-month-old son in February.

37-year-old Lindsey Renee Burnette faces a felony murder charge.

Police say Friday, February 14, 2025, officers responded to the 600 block of Hanover Ave NW for the report of an unconscious infant. Officers found Aka-rri Burnette-Coleman dead.

Burnette told officers she and the baby were sleeping in the same bed, and when she awoke, the boy was unconscious, according to police.

May 14, 2025, the Office of the Medical Examiner determined the infant died from suffocation and acute methamphetamine toxicity.

Police say the investigation determined Burnette rolled onto Burnette-Coleman while she was sleeping.
