Retired Central Texas teacher’s cartoons to be published in local newspaper

McGREGOR, Texas (KWTX) - A retired local educator of 25 years says it’s a dream come true as his cartoons are being published in a local newspaper.

Jon Brown, 68, of Coryell County, is the artist behind a new feature in the McGregor Mirror in which Brown draws the cartoons, but the readers chose the caption.

“My wife and I don’t think of ourselves as clever,” Jon laughed. “We draw what we think are clever ideas but it’s not witty enough to get that punchline and our idea was ‘well let’s let people come in with their own.”

Jon said the captions readers are submitting have been funny and clever.

“Much better than I would have done,” he said.

James Lenamon is the owner of the McGregor Mirror and said when Jon came to him with the idea, they loved it.
