Fort Wayne Community Schools has $64.1 million in needs – including buses to buy, roofs to replace and buildings to renovate – that it intends to pay for through borrowing.

The plan is estimated to increase the total debt service tax rate to 37.28 cents per $100 of assessed value. This is up from 30.28 cents, the rate the district has held since 2012.

An initial public hearing about the bond projects received no public comment Monday. Another hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 22 at Grile Administrative Center, 1200 S. Clinton St.

Facilities Director Heather Krebs summarized the projects, which will be financed by general obligation and first mortgage bonds.

Construction is expected to begin in May. All projects should be done by October 2028.
