STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A billboard looming over a busy stretch of Forest Avenue in Port Richmond claims that Rep. Nicole Malliotakis has broken a pledge to support congressional term limits, but the congresswoman says it’s all a misunderstanding.

Over the weekend, a billboard was erected along Forest Avenue, just west of Maple Parkway, which reads “REP. NICOLE MALLIOTAKIS IS BREAKING HER U.S. TERM LIMITS PLEDGE,” accompanied by a photo of the Republican who represents Staten Island and South Brooklyn.

The billboard is referencing a pledge made by Malliotakis and more than 150 other members of Congress who promised to support and cosponsor a resolution limiting U.S. House members to three two-year terms and U.S. Senators to two six-year terms.
