A disembodied head found by police divers in the Rivière des Prairies was identified Tuesday as belonging to a 40-year-old man, said Montreal police spokesperson Véronique Dubuc.
The victim allegedly took his own life, Dubuc said.
“Furthermore, investigators are able to confirm no criminal act was committed,” she said.
Police were called to the corner of Albert-Brosseau Blvd. and Drapeau Ave. in the borough of Montreal North around 3 p.m. Sunday after the macabre discovery by the riverbank.
Divers from the police’s SWAT team will continue their search Tuesday to find the man’s body.
