Now that's a squirrel of a different color!

Residents in East Hartford, Conn., are scratching their heads and rubbing their eyes after several sightings of wild squirrels painted bright colors.

The neon-coated animals have also caught the attention of East Hartford Animal Control , which is asking for help from the public to figure out who covered these innocent wild animals in potentially toxic paint.

"We've gotten a report about two squirrels that appear to have been painted in the area of Naubuc Ave. and High St," the agency began its Facebook post about the issue , which included two photos of the squirrels, one of each animal.

In the pictures, both squirrels, one painted bright blue, the other glowing red, appear covered in paint from tip to tail.
