WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The City of Wichita is trying to make it more difficult for people convicted of crimes to have access in Old Town.

A Wichita city ordinance states that if you’ve been convicted of a crime in Old Town, you’re not allowed to return to the district.

“Having another tool in the tool belt to try to keep problem people out of the area while they work on changing their behavior is beneficial,” said Wichita Police Captain Aaron Moses.

On Tuesday, the Wichita City Council voted to make sure more people are penalized if they’ve committed a crime in the area.
