A new report is unpacking the effects of the pandemic on kindergarten through 12 education in Nebraska.
It highlighted the digital divide
The Nebraska Advisory Committee sent its report to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
In it, it identifies how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Nebraska students from the spring of 2020 through the rest of that school year.
The committee heard testimony from several video conferences.
March 2020 was when Nebraska's largest school districts, including Omaha Public Schools, moved to remote learning after the first outbreak in the state.
In the report, major areas of concern were identified, including an increase in the mental health crises, gaps in education achievements, and workforce shortages.
