GALESBURG, Ill. (KWQC) - Progress is being made on downtown Galesburg’s revitalization project.
The downtown revitalization project on Simmons Street and the nearby city parking lot is on target to be completed this fall, city leaders shared in a Facebook post.
The project is part of a $2.1M Rebuild Illinois Downtown and Main Streets Grant .
“We’ve made incredible progress since March , from storm sewer upgrades to decorative lighting and major street improvements,” city leaders said.
The city said they’re also working on completing the Kellog Street intersection, curb and gutter work, all ADA sidewalks, and final grading of the east half of the parking lot.
By the end of September, the city said they hope to have asphalt laid on all remaining portions of the project which is
