Lights, camera, action … cut!

No it’s not the latest horror movie to premier at TIFF, but what appeared to be an organized effort to cut down 16 speed enforcement cameras across the city.

With many criticizing the deployment of the cameras as a cash grab, the acts of vandalism sparked Ontario Premier Doug Ford to warn that if municipalities fail to get rid of the automated speed devices, he will.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, meanwhile, expressed outrage, insisting the devices make streets safer.

With police saying they’re investigating, officers collected evidence at the side of the road Tuesday on O’Connor Dr., west of Coxwell Ave., where a speed camera was vandalized, while curious rush-hour motorists honked their horns.
