ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- This week is National Assisted Living Week. To celebrate, Promenade at University Place in Albany hosted a barbecue with entertainment.

Officials said they held the event to expand the public's knowledge and understanding about what assisted living is and the services they offer.

"Our goal is really to get the word out about what assisted living is, what types of services we provide," Chris Vitale with Empire State Association of Assisted Living said. "The residents here are engaged, active and attentive. They come and go as they please, but they have the security of knowing that as their needs may change, there are staff here to help and react to that and to make sure they get the right care and management."
