SCHLESWIG, Iowa (KTIV) - During the special election on Tuesday, Sept. 9, voters in the Schleswig Community School District decided on a funding stream known as S.A.V.E., which stands for Secure an Advanced Vision for Education.
The unofficial results show residents voted in favor of adopting a revenue purpose statement, which authorizes the use of S.A.V.E. funds for the school district. The vote was 33 in favor and just 1 against, and it needed a simple majority to pass.
With the vote passing, the district is able to use statewide sales tax money to pay for school infrastructure and for property tax relief.
