LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- While the day a baby is born marks the beginning of a new life, two Las Vegas mothers said it often brings challenges that are overlooked.

"Babies aren't pizzas, they just don't get delivered," Ana Martinez, a UNLV graduate and mother who used to work as a labor and delivery nurse, said.

Martinez wears many hats. Part of her birthing journey started while she was a nurse and learned about the process of having a baby at the hospital.

"Being a nurse, working on the other side, I just couldn't labor in peace," she said.

Martinez told 8 News Now she doesn't trust the healthcare system. "I'm not saying you can't trust your doctors, but unfortunately, sometimes they don't have your best interest."

She said she experienced many sad situations when working to help deliver
