JENNINGS, La. (KPLC) - It’s been over 60 years since upgrades have been made to the Jennings water system, and now a huge one is in production.

“Necessary for the city of Jennings. It will give us plenty of growing power, but also a lot of resiliency whenever Mother Nature comes our way,” Mayor Henry Guinn said.

The council began looking into this expansion in 2023. Two years later, after battling through cost issues, the city is now able to get the project going.

Mayor Guinn said the $13.2-million renovation project will do wonders for the city.

“The original plant was built in 1941, and it didn’t see any capital improvement until 1965. Our plant went 24 years without any major capital improvements. Today, it has not seen any major capital improvements since 1965,” he said.
