Scotland's drug deaths record shames us all.
We have the worst record in Europe and, despite a bit of progress in recent years, the latest figures are showing a steady rise again. Since the SNP pledged to make drug treatment a priority in 2021, thousands more lives have been needlessly lost.
A new wave of drugs hitting the street means trouble, with nitazenes , 100 times stronger than heroin, deadlier than anything we have seen before. There have been measures put in place, such as a new drug consumption facility in Glasgow, which are saving lives. But there are still widespread problems in getting enough support in place for addicts.
