ATLANTA — A Korean Air plane has officially departed Seoul, South Korea, and is on its way to Atlanta to pick up and bring back the more than 300 South Korean workers detained in an ICE immigration raid at a Hyundai plant in Georgia last week.
The Boeing 747 is expected to land in Atlanta shortly before 10 a.m., according to flight-tracking site Flightradar24.
The South Korean government has been actively working to secure the workers’ release, along with its representatives at the Korean Embassy in Washington, DC, and the Consulate General in Atlanta.
Over 450 people were detained Thursday at a Hyundai-LG facility in Ellabell, Georgia – about 25 miles west of Savannah. A majority of those detained - over 300 - are South Korean, according to the country’s foreign affairs minister, and
