PALO CEDRO, Calif. - A car crashed into a power pole Monday afternoon near Palo Cedro, leaving the driver with major injuries.

The California Highway Patrol says at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to reports of a car vs power pole crash on Deschutes Road outside of Palo Cedro.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a white Honda Civic that had crashed into a power pole in the area of Sunnyside Drive on Deschutes Road.

Authorities say that traffic was controlled for about an hour as emergency crews worked at the scene.

The CHP tells Action News Now that the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason before crashing into the power pole and that the crash remains under investigation
