ESPAÑOLA — Ronnie Flores said he’s “here to relate.”

A certified peer support worker, Flores is the peer support supervisor for Presbyterian Healthcare Services’ northern regional hospitals.

He describes himself as “a person in recovery,” abstaining from all substances for the past eight years. His job — currently based out of Presbyterian Española Hospital — is to walk alongside patients as they, too, pursue recovery from addiction.

“I’m a living example that they don’t have to live in misery no longer and there is a way out,” Flores said in an interview.

“ ‘Let me walk you through that process,’ “ he added. “ ‘And yes, it’s going to be uncomfortable — but that’s part of the beauty, right?’ “

Now, the Presbyterian Española Hospital is looking to extend that beauty to more patients. T
