CHARLOTTE, Mich. (WLNS) - The 4H community is asking Eaton County to keep funding Michigan State University Extension as commissioners work through the budget.

The Eaton County Commission basically had to start from scratch with its budget to avoid going into the red. Commissioners have had to make some hard choices, cutting 29 positions and decreasing the budget by $8.4 million.

On Tuesday, the public and affected departments shared their thoughts on where things stand. People involved in 4H meant business, dominating public comment with many personal testimonies of what the program has done for them.

"I feel like I have grown as a person, honestly, cause I was in a really bad spot before 4H," said a current 4H member.
