JAMESTOWN, Tenn. (WATE) — The Fentress County Sheriff's Office announced that it had rescued 25 horses and two ponies who were in poor health on Tuesday.
FCSO received a tip about horses with "severe malnutrition" in "poor living conditions" near Leatherwood Ford Road, the agency said. After getting a search warrant, officers and Tennessee Department of Agriculture agents found 25 horses and two ponies "in various stages of poor health."
Horse Haven of Tennessee and Volunteer Equine Advocates helped the officers transport the horses to somewhere they could be rehabilitated and receive veterinary care.
