BIG TIMBER — With the sound of opportunity coming down the tracks, Sweet Grass County is officially on board to restore long-distance passenger rail service through southern Montana, according to a resolution county commissioners signed unanimously on Monday.

The decision came as officials, transportation experts, and stakeholders from more than five states gathered in Livingston for the three day Big Sky Passenger Rail Conference from Monday until Wednesday.

The event was held by the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority (BSPRA), a coalition of local governments, tribal nations, business leaders, and community advocates working to restore long-distance passenger rail service through southern Montana.
