MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Changes are coming to the Memphis Area Transit Authority, which will no longer be led by a CEO, but rather a trust, made up of two people.

During an executive session with city council members Tuesday, leaders voted to approve new structuring changes when it comes to who's in charge of managing MATA's spending.

The transit authority has topped the headlines in recent weeks. MATA has been under fire since the WREG Investigators revealed a $60 million budget shortfall and questionable spending.

Now, instead of a CEO, MATA will be under the control of a city trust. The trust will be in charge of managing the more than $30 million in funding approved by the council earlier this year.
