PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Tigard Mayor Heidi Lueb resigned from her position Tuesday night, citing personal health as well as growing tension with staff and fellow councilors.

In a long statement posted on her website, Lueb thanked the city of Tigard and also shared her struggles — both personal and with others.

"All this work comes at a personal cost to myself and my family," Lueb said in a statement. "While I don’t regret that choice, my mental and physical health have deteriorated. And I’m not alone, as I’ve shared my struggles with other mayors it’s clear that this is all too common, especially for female mayors.
