SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has new information on a woman who went missing 14 years ago.
Officials said a body found in 2011 was identified as Jolene Lynn White. White was born in New York in 1976 but had been living in the nearby town of Cowpens when she disappeared in 2005, six years before her body was found.
According to the DNA Doe Project, a group of teens searching for scrap metal found skeletal remains in a wooded area along a highway in Startex. It was determined that the remains belonged to a woman between 40 and 55 years old.
The DNA Doe Project said they found evidence that White had been murdered before her body was hidden under debris.
