WOONSOCKET – The North Providence High girls’ tennis team shook off last Thursday’s tough season-opening loss to the Prout School by rolling to a 7-0 victory over Woonsocket High in their Division II matchup on Monday at the Villa Novans’ Aylsworth Street courts.
The Cougars, who posted an 8-6 mark last fall for their seventh winning season in the last nine years, dropped just six games all afternoon and swept the three doubles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Senior standouts Jayla Hall and Lyndsie Lapierre, who teamed up to earn All-Division honors last season as NP’s third doubles squad, pitched a shutout in second doubles, and also blanking their opponents were the first doubles team of seniors Mendy Chen and Alisha Zhuang and third doubles team of senior Elizabeth Ricci and junior Lilian
