SAGINAW, MI — A former state representative — the youngest ever elected in Michigan history — was back in court to face charges that he brought a pair of guns into a Saginaw hospital .

Jewell I. Jones, 30, on Wednesday, Sept. 10, appeared alongside defense counsel Alan A. Crawford for a preliminary examination before Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank. Jones is charged with two felony counts of carrying a concealed weapon and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm on restricted premises.

Before calling witnesses, Saginaw County Assistant Prosecutor Marissa Fillmore said she had offered to dismiss one of each count if Jones pleaded guilty or no contest to the remaining two. Crawford did not say if Jones plans to accept the offer.
