If Oregon were a child, its parent might well be imploring it to turn its frown upside down today.

That’s because the state ranks just 39th in WalletHub’s 2025 study of the Happiest States in America, released this week.

Oregon sits well behind a few of its western neighbors: No. 7 California (lucky!), No. 10 Idaho (really?) and No. 24 Washington (pffft).

But cheer up because Oregon rates a bit happier than Nevada (40th), Colorado (41st) and New Mexico (44th).

Also, not to state the obvious, but let us remind that happiness is merely a state, and that we can count myriad ways to achieve our happiest state while in our own state.
