Newark is letting the dust settle before splitting rates or offering breaks to taxpayers. However, city taxpayers have an extra month to pay up.

Newark City Council decided against tax assessment breaks or splitting tax rates between residential and nonresidential at their meeting on Sep. 8. This comes after city staff, led by city manager Tom Coleman, ran a few scenarios for council consideration as Delaware's new tax reality continues to sink in for some residents who are paying suddenly higher bills.
