GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island’s top official is no longer with the city.

The City of Grand Island shared Wednesday afternoon that it has parted ways with City Administrator Laura McAloon.

When asked what led to the separation, the City’s spokesperson, Spencer Schubert, said it was due to a personnel matter and said he’s unable to share further information.

McAloon has served as city administrator since June 2023. Prior to that she served as the City’s attorney since September 2022.

McAloon was appointed by Mayor Roger Steele to serve as city administrator following the retirement of Jerry Janulewicz.

The first vote for her appointment was denied in December 2022. This then led to a nationwide search, and eventually McAloon was approved by the council in June 2023.
