The Albanese government has described the suspected political assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk as a "tragedy" as tributes flood in from political leaders around the world.
Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles told Sky News the government's thoughts were with the family of Kirk.
"Our thoughts go out to the family of Charlie Kirk. This is an absolute tragedy," he said.
"We condemn any form of political violence. It really matters that political discourse occurs peacefully and through dialogue and conversation.
