OMAHA, Neb. —

Volunteers from First Interstate Bank partnered with Open Door Mission on Wednesday to help prepare meals for people experiencing homelessness and poverty as part of the bank’s annual volunteer day.

The nonprofit, which has served the Omaha community since 1954, received both donated time and supplies to support its mission of breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness.

“They brought $500 and made a donation for lunch meat,” said Amy Harvey of Open Door Mission. “We've been low on that recently and had to do a lot of peanut butter sandwiches, which are great, but people like lunch meat.”
