Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity announced that its downtown Wilmington ReStore at 1208 South Third St. will permanently close on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.

Donations at this location will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Sept. 11.

All current Third Street employees will be relocated to Cape Fear Habitat’s two other ReStores, according to a Cape Fear Habitat news release. Those are located at 6138 Carolina Beach Road in Monkey Junction and 7330 Market St. in Ogden. Remaining merchandise will be transferred to those stores.

“The decision to close the 3rd Street location was made in the spring of 2025 after careful consideration of many factors,” the news release states. “While the store’s long history and role in the community are deeply valued, Habitat’s leadership recognized the need to strengthen
