More than 20 cars were taken off the streets in Coventry in just one day. Operation Scalis saw West Midlands Police traffic officers patrol and target areas across the city centre
The operation was aimed at tackling uninsured drivers and it led to the team taking 23 vehicles off those driving without any insurance. One driver, who was found to be disqualified, was also arrested during the sting on September 8.
Operation Scalis is ongoing and could see those caught hit with a fixed penalty of £300 and six penalty points on their licence. If the case goes to court, it could lead to an unlimited fine and a motoring ban.
