Conductor Bing Vick has always believed that a choral concert should offer a hopeful response to the challenges and turmoil of the times.

Even when leading the Greenville Chorale in a work that is 100 or 200 years old, Vick thinks about how it may provide consolation to a troubled world.

“Great music survives and speaks to us over time because the message is always pertinent,” Vick said. “In our programs, I’ve always tried to present music that is relevant for today.”

Fittingly, in his final program after 45 years as conductor and artistic director of the Greenville Chorale, Vick will lead the 150-voice ensemble and the Greenville Symphony Orchestra in Ralph Vaughn Williams’ “Dona Nobis Pacem,” a profound reflection on the sorrows of war.
