OHIO, USA — Members of the Ohio National Guard will remain in Washington, D.C. until the end of November, Gov. Mike DeWine announced.

In an update Wednesday, DeWine said he had approved a request from the Secretary of the Army for 150 Ohio National Guard members to carry out patrols in Washington through Nov. 30.

The Ohio National Guard was deployed across Washington, D.C. in August following President Donald Trump’s executive order to federalize local police forces in the nation’s capital.

The emergency order over the nation’s capital expired at midnight Thursday, according to District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser, but the National Guard and some other federal agencies will continue their deployments.
