BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. —
Bernalillo County is taking action to address safety concerns along one of the most dangerous stretches of roadway in the South Valley — Coors Boulevard between Gun Club and Blake Road.
Since 2015, the corridor has seen a troubling number of incidents. At least 18 people have lost their lives, 17 have sustained serious injuries, and more than 1,200 crashes have been reported.
In response, the county is launching the Coors Boulevard Pedestrian Safety Project, a new initiative aimed at improving conditions for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists alike.
The project will focus on critical issues such as a lack of crosswalks, inadequate lighting, and missing sidewalks.
Residents are invited to learn more at an open house scheduled for Thursday at 5:30-7:30 p.m.
