With Mt. Hope High School about to bring back interscholastic league football to town with the ongoing construction of the new building in Bristol, it’s always refreshing to talk about Warren’s glorious athletic past, and this case was no exception.

Recently, two of the prime figures in Warren High School’s final game at Veterans Field, the same ballpark that sits majestically at the rear of the Kickemuit Middle School, recollected upon the event now 33 years ago.

For then-Warren High School head coach T.J. Del Santo, who currently serves as Bristol-Warren Regional coordinator of physical education, and Bristol Recreation Department Assistant Director and Warren Hall of Famer Tim Shaw, the memories still ring out loud and clear.
