GRAND FORKS – Despite a decrease in community support services, district leaders say students will continue to have access to necessary school supplies.

At the start of every school year, students at Grand Forks Public Schools are given a list of school supplies for the coming year. If students are unable to purchase all the items, school staff and partner organizations fill in the gaps. While many of these organizations continue to contribute, Viking Elementary School social worker Tracy Meagher said she has seen fewer donations.

“I would say resources in our community are decreasing, which is really hard,” Meagher said. “Organizations that used to run some of these things, we've had some support services and agencies close in our community.”
