CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man is accused of assaulting a victim on a road in Harrison County and then threatening him with a gun.

On Sept. 9, deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department responded to the Main Street area of Lumberport for a welfare check, according to a criminal complaint.

When deputies arrived, they met with a victim who stated that James Short had approached on an ATV while he was walking by the railroad tracks on Main Street, deputies said.

At that time, Short "did strike [the victim] in the head/face, causing a laceration to his right upper eye/eyebrow" and the victim then fell to the ground; while the victim was on the ground, Short "did strike him in the head/face area around his nose" with his boots, according to the complaint.
