LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Firefighters, police, and community members gathered Thursday morning at Las Vegas Fire Station 5 for a moving ceremony marking the 24th anniversary of September 11.

Powerful tributes were on display, including a piece of steel recovered from Ground Zero and a flag that once flew over the World Trade Center, which was gifted to Las Vegas Fire Station 5 for its dedication.

"That flag is only supposed to fly on 9/11 of each year," retired Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Officer Tim Szymanski said.
