LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KOLO) - A man the DOJ says entered the country illegally has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of trafficking methamphetamine.

Efrain Macias-Amaral will serve five years of parole after his release. He was found guilty of distributing and possessing more than 30 pounds of the drug

The DOJ says that, between June and July of 2024, he distributed and possessed more than 15 kilograms of methamphetamine. Then, on June 11, 2024, he sold more than 2,000 grams of methamphetamine.

He would then go on to sell another 2,000 grams of methamphetamine in July. On July 11, 2024, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Amaral.
